Day One, arrived from Bangkok for quick departure because of tide (2m).  Luckily we had pre-provisioned.  Lovely pool, bakery, etc. here at the Marina.

Super-quick chart/boat brief with Paul at the Base.  Lots of info. in short time for 3pm launch.  Staff piloted us out the long stretch to the bay.

Tagg was the first to try the kayak at the first mooring.  Beaches EVERYwhere.  It was a single kayak which was a bit of a disappointment.  Gill's error.

You wouldn't think that at 8 degrees north of the equator that one could be cold.  Ian was the only one with a jacket.  Gill heaved off the stern this day and then lay in the cabin.  Meli was freezing.  We were told the weather was going to be good!

This is the outside entrance to the Hong on Ko Hong.  We sailed around Ko Hong first looking for the best shelter from weather and settled on the south side of the island with some other cruisers.

Small vocab lesson:  Ko=island, Hong=cave

This is the "normal" entrance into the many Hongs around the Andaman Sea and Phang Nga Bay.  This is Ko Hong from the direction of our anchored boat towards the island.

We found a small cave in side the big hong on Ko Hong.  Maybe this is a very small hong?  Gill and Ian entered and inside was a small beach.  This shot is looking out.  Hongs withing Hongs...

Tagg went ahead in the kayak.  We followed in the dinghy only to have to return to the boat for a flashlight TWICE (bad batteries).  It was pitch black, with bats and suspect liquid dripping from the stalactytes!!

Nights were warm so the kids often slept up top.  Ian and Gill had the forward Vberth so they could hear if the anchor dragged.  Needless to say, Gill didn't sleep for 8 nights!!!
